Pictures speak a universal language and provide an exciting medium through which to communicate.

So, what makes us stop and notice a picture? What distinguishes a good picture from a bad one in the visual melting pot of this current age? Mass mediated and private pictures, film, Internet, art and culture melt together for most of us without rhyme or reason.

However, on rare occasions, a picture has something engaging about it – a detail maybe or some strange attraction. Such photograph attaches itself to one’s consciousness and remains. This sort of picture is the kind which ought to be the goal of every creator of images.

I was born in Germany but moved to Norway in a age of 19. I pursued a number of interests while working in various jobs. I’ve worked as a receptionist, waitress and bartender in Gudbrandsdal valley and this just because of a book which made a great impression. Sigrid Undset’s “Kristin Lavransdaughter”. Through that I probably began my “love affair” with the landscape photography. Mostly for being able to tell my stories back home and let people be a part of my journeys.

Since that time I’ve been traveling a lot. Photography has taken me to different places like Italy, Spain and East Europe but I always end up near the ocean. My next plan is to travel through New Zealand which somehow is not so different from Norway.

As a final thought, I hope in some small way that my images can make a difference in people’s attitudes towards our planet. The natural world is more than just a place for weekend and holiday escapes. It sustains us, and without it life here will become untenable. If we learn to care a little more and consume a little less, we may stop the irrevocable loss of our remaining natural environments’ before it’s too late.
